Erynn L. Bonds
July 13, 1984 - December 24, 2014

God smiled on the earth the day He sent Erynn Lauren Bonds to fill our lives with joy. She was born in Washington D.C. on July 13th 1984 as the third child of James and Evola Bonds proudly earning the life-long title of “the baby”. When Erynn was an infant the family moved to Yardley, PA but eventually settled in Chadds Ford, PA in 1990. With the addition of two brothers, the Bonds household expanded to seven members. She adored her siblings and would play with her brothers all day and hang out with her big sisters at night. Erynn, with her sisters by her side, confirmed her faith through Baptism at the Eighth Street Baptist Church in 1992. She received her education through the Kennett Consolidated School District and participated in youth basketball and cheerleading. After graduating from Kennett High School in 2002, Erynn attended her parents’ alma mater, Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. In 2006, with her Marketing degree in hand, she proudly returned to Pennsylvania and started a career in healthcare with a position at Genesis Healthcare. Erynn then joined Canaan Baptist Church where she found her calling and joined the Amachi Youth Mentoring Ministry. To move closer to her loving sisters Jarnell and Courtney, Erynn then relocated to Upper Marlboro, MD. Erynn showed her obedience to the Lord through her acts of service in both her professional and personal life. In 2007, she accepted a position with a nonprofit organization in Washington D.C. called GAVI Alliance and served as an Operations and HR Assistant. Three years later, Erynn served as a Program Assistant at PATH where she coordinated all activities for the clinical team to develop vaccines that prevent infectious diseases for children throughout the world. In recognition of her outstanding achievements she was promoted to a Senior Program Assistant in July 2014. Erynn became an active member of the First Baptist Church of Highland Park in Landover, MD and devoted her time to their Evangelism, Women’s Day and EMBRACE Ministries. As a very active member of the church, Erynn spearheaded an outreach program to provide shoes for orphans and worked with Prince George’s County officials to plan a 5K run. For her diligence she was awarded Outstanding Member of EMBRACE for 2014. She was even able to support her home community of Wilmington, DE by distributing donated computers and accessories for high-need families. At the time of her passing, Erynn was part of her church’s 2015 Women’s Day Committee while studying for her Master’s Degree in community health as an online student of the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Erynn was a meticulous event planner and known for the thoughtful gifts and celebrations she gave to loved ones. She was a faithful woman who constantly sought to serve God and was called home on December 24, 2014, just in time to celebrate the birthday of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Erynn will forever be known as a warm spirit that filled the lives of others with her silly, light hearted personality constantly keeping friends and family full of belly-aching laughs. Today, our bellies ache with the loss of Erynn, but take solace in knowing she has moved on to a better place, where we will all meet again. We will forever be grateful for the blessing of being graced with a life as rare as Erynn’s and celebrate her as she dances with her sister Courtney after fulfilling God’s purpose for their lives. As difficult as it is to deal with the confusion that can come with understanding the events that occurred in the sleeping hours of the 24th, the simplicity of Erynn’s screen saver lends the best advice in times like these; KEEP CALM and PRAY. Erynn was predeceased by a loving sister Courtney Ankh Bonds. To cherish her memories she leaves; her parents, James and Evola Bonds of Chadds Ford, PA, her sister, Jarnell Bonds of Upper Marlboro, MD, her brothers; Carlise Bonds of Philadelphia, PA, and Durwin Bonds of Roanoke, VA, cousins, God sisters, aunts, uncles, and many friends.
